From a Lake to a City (soundscape)

From a Lake to a City is a soundscape that transitions from the gentle splashes of lake water against rocks to the mechanical busyness of a downtown city. Sounds of water splashes, sounds of geese and other birds, and sounds of children’s voices and basketball bounces are eventually overtaken by mechanical sounds of crosswalks, transportation, music from outdoor audio speakers, and finally a firetruck siren, which allows an unsettledness to linger.

For this project, I used a hand held zoom recorder and recorded on location around Lake Palestine near Tyler, Texas, and in downtown Dallas, Texas. Watching and listening to the geese and other birds was the highlight of this project.
